. Air circuit breaker is made up of contacts that will separate when a problem occurs. Stopping the flow of electricity keeps conditions safe and prevents damage to equipment. In an ACB, when the contacts separate – due to overcurrent, short circuit or for operating purposes – the ACB works to eliminate the arc, making the equipment safer. The ACB uses a combination of air pressure and conductive elements to guide the arc away from the circuit safely and then stretches it until it is eliminated.

Our Medium Voltage products comprise Vacuum Contactor Units (VCU) and Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCB). Sub cubicles, half panels and full panels assembled with these products are together referred to as MV Assemblies. We offer a wide range of VCBs and VCUs for various voltage levels for the ease of customization of any particular assembly. These VCBs and VCUs are manufactured and tested at state-of-the-art facility. All processes deployed at ASW are on par with international guidelines. The arc in a vacuum circuit breaker forms when metal oils ionize in the contact. These contacts are separated when unexpected conditions occur or the arc becomes jammed in them.

The arc interruption that occurs inside Vacuum Breaker is different from the arc interruption that occurs inside other types of circuit breakers. The contacts release a vapor when they divide. These vapors comprise positive ions that are withdrawn from the contact’s surface.

The vapor will not stay if the current is reduced. This implies that the vapor density is determined by the current present in the arc. When the current reaches zero, the vapor density decreases, and the medium recovers its dielectric strength.

The arc will also have several parallel routes if the interfering current is minimal. The whole current will be split up into several parallel arcs. Furthermore, they will reject each other, causing them to expand across the contact surface. Vapors can release quickly if a high current value is established on the contact surface.

An essential property of a vacuum is that once an arc is produced inside it, it may be quickly extinguished due to the vacuum’s dielectric strength rapidly improving.

Complete drawn out design of VCUs and VCBs facilitate quick and friendly user operations. Additionally, these products undergo endurance tests for innumerable number of cycles to ensure ruggedness and durability of the assemblies. Moreover, the design - 600mm wide for 630 to 1250 Amperes - of current rating makes the application space economical.

We offer half panels and sub-cubicles for 11kV. The VCB is ‘draw out’ type and can be racked out directly on the floor. VCBs are type tested according to International Standards IEC-62271 at renowned laboratories. They are compact, safe and reliable. The sub-cubicle is VCB with its compartment having all safety interlocks. The half panel is an assembly of the medium voltage compartments except for low voltage compartment.
